What's happening nearby, on a map. A native Android social app.

01What it is

Pinboard puts pins, short-lived moments and circles of people on a live map of what's happening around you. It launches in Durban, runs only on Google's infrastructure, and blurs every location before it is stored, more where the area is quiet.

Privacy is never a paid tier, and a privacy feature is described to users only once it is real.

03How it works

  1. Location blurred before it's written

Every pin is fuzzed on the device by a radius scaled to how many pins are nearby, before it reaches the database.

  2. One vendor at runtime

Maps, data, functions, sign-in and integrity checks all come from Google. No third-party service is called while the app runs.

  3. Moments expire

A scheduled function deletes expired moments every hour, so short-lived posts stay short-lived.
